Pair of French Art Deco Macassar & Acrylic Torcheres

Unavailable
This pair of French torcheres date from the early to mid twentieth century. They feature macassar ebony veneer, chromed metal shades, marble bases and sculpted clear acrylic uprights with transparent layer of rust-colored acrylic or glass with pebbled surface which compliments the grain of the ebony. Neither is signed and each is marked "MADE IN FRANCE" on the chrome. Each was wired for use in the U.S. and is ready for use. They each have their original sockets with ceramic heat diffusers, suggeting they date from the mid-twentieth century. Their design is reminiscient of lamps by Jacques Adnet (1900- 1984), Paul Iribe (1883-1935), and Andre Domin (1883-1962) and Marcel Genevriere (1885-1967) for Dominique. Condition of each is excellent. There are a few nicks at the base of each lamp, and no corrosion on the shades. Each measures 69.5" tall and 22" across.
