This is a wonderful pair of dolls from Bolivia, I believe. They are standing on wooden bases and on the bottom of the base it is written "Elena Teran Mendez Bruro - Bolivia Campesina del Norte Le Potosi" The girl doll has "Elena Teran Mendez Bruro - Bolivia" written across her slip under her dress also. Their arms, hands and legs and feet are posable wire wrapped in what appears to be yarn and their faces and neck seem to be what looks like nylon. They have embroidered facial features and wool embroidered clothing with twisted, braided, and knitted yarn embellishments along with sequins and pompoms. The boy doll has buttons on his checkered shirt and is missing one button which apparently was just glued on and can easily be replaced. Both dolls are wearing crochetted hats and the girl doll is wearing a pair of earrings. These dolls stand almost 9" tall. I believe these were souvenir dolls, probably from Bolivia. Such a wonderful pair of dolls to add to your already existing cloth or international doll collection or to start a new doll collection!
