Pair of Antique Chinese Official's Chairs

Unavailable
Asian Antique Chairs (Pair of Antique Chinese Official's Chairs). A very beautiful pair of antique Chinese Official's chairs. Of special interest is the remarkable curved wooden rails used throughout the design of the chair. The top railing curves inward, the back panel yoke curves inward, and the armrests have both vertical and horizontal curved wooden railings.

Often this style of chair was referred to as an Official's chair, since only a person of importance or an official could afford to have such an elaborate chair crafted for him.

The center yoke back panel has three pierced carved sections, with the center carving being very intricate. The front leg apron is also very elaborately carved. A footrest is between the front round legs. Between the side legs are two stretchers, with one stretcher between the rear legs.

The lacquer remaining on the chairs is original. The finish is light to medium brown.

The height to the seat is 20.25 inches (51.5cm) and the height to the top of the top railing is 38.75 inches (98.4cm).

It is rare to find original matching chairs, so it would be wonderful for these chairs to remain together. However, each chair can be sold separately. Price listed is for each chair. Antique Asian Furniture & Furnishings: Pair of Antique Chinese Official's Chairs from Shanxi Province, China.
