These polychrome glazed terracotta busts depict elegant male and female Moors, and are signed GR. They are of German or Austrian ( Austro-Hungarian ) origin and date from the last quarter of the nineteenth century. They reside on turned wooden pedestals. Each has obvious chip losses here and there, and stress cracks to the wooden socles. We are not familiar with the hallmark, and believe it may be an early mark by Goldscheider. Measures: 21.7" H X 12" W X 8" D (55.2 cm H X 30.5 cm W X 20.3 cm D).
