This pair of mahogany chairs is in the late Victorian or Art Nouveau style. The deeply carved crests have an intricately carved shell design surrounded by leaves which continue to cascade along the sides of the chairs. Below the shell is a delicate floral pattern using the contrasting inlaid satinwood and mother of pearl. The chairs appear to retain their original fabric which has staining. The backs are button tufted and the seats retain their springs which are in good condition. The chairs rest on carved stylized claw feet and their original casters. The chair frames are all tight and sturdy. Their original finish is in excellent condition.
