Pair: French Bronze & Marble Tulip Candlesticks, 19th C
Description: Pair: Antique French Louis XVI Style Tulip Form Gilt Bronze & Marble Candlesticks, 19th C. France. Each candlestick features a bronze and white marble urn-shaped standard (with tasseled chain swags) issuing a bronze tulip spray with a central tulip-shaped nozzle (fitted with removable bobeche). The urn is mounted on a white marble column plinth (with bronze swag applique) above a bronze stand/base. The pieces are not signed or marked. Price Comparison: $2000-4000 in Fine Art & Antiques Gallery. Dimensions: Each: 12-3/4" & 13" High, 5-1/4" Wide, 3-3/8" Deep (Bases: 3-3/8" Wide, 3-3/8" Deep). Total Weight: 7lbs. Condition: The bobeches/drip-pans may be later additions. There is some minor bending to the leaves and buds. There is some rubbing/wear to the gilding with some oxidation to the bronze. There is some dirt/discoloration to the surfaces of the white marble urns and column bases. There are a few small surface chips/nicks to the edges of the marble elements with a larger chip/loss along the right side of the top edge on one urn (appears to have been ground down). Otherwise, the candlesticks are in good condition.
