Elegant pair of very old, antique, c. 18th /19th Century botanical etchings: (Pl. 24) Dianthus Floribus Solitariis and (Pl.87) Double Variegated Rose and signed on the plate Del et Fecit Edwards. These etchings correspond to Plate 24 and Plate 87 of the John Edwards book "The British Herbal", published in London, 1770. John Edwards (1742 - 31 August 1815) was an English botanist, painter, designer and illustrator. Edwards designed, etched and coloured all the plates himself as his signature attests: Del et Fecit Edwards. Beautifully matted and framed, ready to hang on the wall. In very good used condition with some surface dirt, toning and foxing typical of antique prints; unexamined out of frame. Shipped fully insured with tracking number. Measurements: Frame: 25" by 21" approximately.
