This exquisite pair of carved marble ryhton drinking vessels date from the 19th century and measure 13 x 16 x 6 in (33 x 41 x 15 cm).  They are based upon the Roman model by Ponthios dating from the 1st century BC, preserved in the Capitoline in the Palazzo dei Conservatore in Rome.  Ponthios' design comes in the form of a cornucopia supported by mythological winged horses. ( statue centerpiece pair Italian ancient neoclassical classical Greek )
