Pair Antique Bronze Mercury Fortuna Lamps, 19th C.
Description: Pair: Antique Bronze Sculptures of Mercury & Fortuna Mounted as Table Lamps, 19th C. The sculptures are modeled after original models by Giambologna (1529-1608) which have been mounted as table lamps by attaching painted metal lamp posts to the back of each figure (using screws, solder, and wire). Each figure stands on a column of air coming from the mouth of Zephyr, above turned slate and cylindrical bronze bases decorated with a frieze of putti, symbolic of The Arts. The sculptures are not signed or marked. Price Comparison: $4000-6000 in Fine Art & Antiques Gallery.
