Beautifully engraved certificate from the Pacific Bank issued in 1887. This historic document has an ornate border around it with a vignette of a woman with a shield, and a globe of the world showing North and South America and the Pacific Ocean. This item is hand signed by the Company’s President ( Richard Hayes McDonald ) and Secretary and is over 116 years old.
Certificate Vignette The Pacific Bank was established in 1863 and was the first chartered commercial bank in California. Its original name was the Pacific Accumulation and Loan Society, but it was afterwards changed to the Pacific Bank. Richard Hayes McDonald was born in 1820 and died in 1903 at the age of 83.
