Fine Ormolu Bronze Mounted Neoclassical French Louis XVI Period Mantle Clock

This Louis XVI period, ormolu bronze mounted marble mantel clock comes from the Parisien studio of Calame, circa 1775. Measures: 17.5 x 14 x 4.5 in (44.5 x 36.5 x 11 cm). The clock is in very good condition. There is surface dirt on the marble, consistent with age, small cracks to one arm of the figure and to the bottom of the book, and a few small chips to the extremities The dial has hairline cracks and minor losses. The ormolu shows rubbing, some oxidation and surface dirt, all consistent with age.  There is some adhesive residue on the ormolu on lower right part of bottom, and the musical trophy has been regilded.  Provenance upon request.
