During the 1920s-1940s citrus was king in Central Florida. Packing houses processed and shipped wooden crates of premier citrus to nothern markets. Labels were affixed to each crate which became "colorized billboards" for the various packing houses. Today citrus trees have been replaced by rooftops in Central Florida and over 90% of the fruit goes to juice processing plants. The old labels have become very collectible and make colorful decorations when matted and framed. This authentic old label - "Blue Heron" - was utilized by the Brooksville Citrus Growers Association of Brooksville, Florida in the 1930s.
