During the 1920s-1940s citrus was king in Central Florida. Packing houses processed and shipped wooden crates of premiere citrus to northern markets. Labels were affixed to each crate which became "colorized billboards" for the various packing houses. Today citrus trees have been replaced by rooftops in Central Florida and over 90% of the fruit goes to juice processing plants. The old labels have become very collectible and make colorful decorations when matted and framed. This authentic label - "Orkideer" - was utilized by Deerfield Groves in Wabasso, Florida during the 1940s.
