Here we have a great saddle by the Texas Tanning and Mfg. Co. of Yoakum Texas. This saddle is stamped #1013 947-5912 and is dated 09/1947. This saddle was used on a large ranch in western Kansas near Colorado since the 40s. It spent many nights on the prairie while out working the cattle. A local family has had it since it was new, passing it from generation to generation. The saddle is made with a fence pliers holder pouch on one side, and one time it had a bag to hold fence staples as well. This saddle has a great patina and is stamped Genuine Hereford Brand with a bulls head in the center of the stamp. It has sheepskin lining. It appears to be in very good shape for its age. This saddle measures 37 ½ inches tall, 17 ½ inches side to side and 25 ½ inches front to back. It weighs 33 pounds. The seat measures 13 inches front to back and 14 ½ inches side to side. We do have more photographs that we can email if you are interested.
