Orientalist Middle Eastern Porcelain Plaque

Unavailable
This nineteenth century painted porcelain plaque in the Orientalist style depicts a striking young woman wearing a Christian cross, gold jewelry and white headdress. Plaque measures 7.5" by 5.75" and frame measures 10.75" by 8.75" and weighs 1 lbs. 5 oz. We have not removed the plaque for inspection of the rear, and it appears to be glued down to the frame. Quality of this portrait is exceptional, comparable to the finest works by KPM from the nineteenth century. No signature has been found. Condition is excellent. There is a very tiny chip at the base of the plaque where a mounting nail resides. This area has been touched with paint and is very difficult to see unless viwed under magnification or at a very close distance. There are no other chips, cracks or repairs. This item comes from a family who have been collecting European porcelain for four generations. It resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
