Regency period (circa 1810-1820) Old Sheffield Plate tapered oblong tea caddy with hinged lid and lions mask handles. Quite a lot of bleed showing - wear to top of lid (copper showing) , masks, front and back where fingers would have picked it up and high points. Measures 95 mm high, and 105 mm by 81 mm at the base (3.3/4 inches high, and 4.1/8 inches by 3.1/4 inches). Slight splitting to seams visible internally (has had small re welds here over time) and a kink to the hinge. Very decorative though. Makers marks indistinct - sunburst-like motif, geometric pattern and a curved mark.
