Old Mexican Earthenware Pottery Plate. I This old hand made pottery plate is quite simple with a very plain design of a line and two types of leaves. It is the traditional clay that turns from gray to this orangery red after firing. . The simplicity is what I find appealing about this unique item. It measures 8 1/4 in diameter. T is a loop projection that is meant to be used to hang it from a hook. It is marked "Made in Mexico" back.
The condition is decent. T are chip through the glaze on the rim. The type of clay that is used in pieces is soft. They are laid out in the Sun to dry then fired Each one was individually formed and painted by hand in small family run potteries and usually in their homes villages. Some imperfections are to be expected.
In the next few week I shall be listing much of my old Mexican and other Latin Pottery collections.
