Old Japanese Cinnabar Paint Silver Metal Tobacco Box Wood Lined

Old Japanese Cinnabar Painted Cast Silver Metal Tobacco Box that is lined with dark wood. The detail on this box in incredible. It is very heavy for the size. The hinged lid is especially substantial. I have not pulled off the wood panel to investigate what is under there but from the few chips in the painted surface it appears to be silver. The detail in relief is of a Japanese pagoda with a mountain in the background, a bridge and steps up to grand house. There are scenes in relief on all sides. I assume that it is an old tobacco box as it has a hint of sweet tobacco odor. I don't have a clue if the paint is original or added later over silver or silver plate to make it look like carved cinnabar. Under the paint it appears to be silver plate over copper. There are not markings. Although there is a piece of tape on the bottom indicating that it was a wedding gift to someone's grandparents. Unfortunately there is no date. . The condition is good with the exception of the chippy paint throughout. There are not any dents. It is very attractive and well as interesting.
