Seventeenth century oil on canvas by Jan Van Den Houcke (Dutch, 1611-1651), "Achilles At The Court Of Licomedes".

Jan Van Den Houcke was a student of Peter Paul Rubens and this work mimics a similar work in a known tapestry of Rubens. Purchased from a New York City gallery in the 1940's this painting has been in the same family since. See gallery label from late 19th-early 20th century reverso in photograph #5. This work was examined by experts in the field and the attribution is correct.
