Octagonal Shade Lamp

Unavailable
Wonderful turn-of-the-century panel lamp with a large octagonal shade. It has eight curved slag glass panels with a lovely blend of yellows, reds, purples, greens and whites. The flat lower panels are smokey green with caramel accents. The overlay metalwork features a design incorporating windmills, churches, trees, houses and smoke billowing from a factory building. There is a sailing ship motif on the outside of the lower glass. The tall base has a fancy design on the top, three curved original sockets and a twist finials. The pull chains have acorn ends identical to those used by the Handel Lamp Company (see page 39 of Handel Lamps by Robert De Falco and Carole Goldman Hibel). Since these chains might have been used by other companies we can not make an attribution and the lamp is unsigned. I purchased this lamp twenty years ago and liked it enough to make it a part of my personal collection. We are unable to find a space for it in our current house. One of the best period panel lamps you will see! Circa 1900. Dimensions: 28″H x 21″ (maximum diameter of shade). Condition: The metalwork has an aged bronze patina with wear. Glasss is all original and in good condition. Price: $3250.00
