This handsome solid oak roll top desk has an exceptionally tall back and great interior. The “S” shaped roll slides up and down easily and is in excellent condition. The desk has its working lock and key. Notice the narrow cut slot in the center of the roll. These were made so that mail could be dropped into the desk at work when it was closed and locked. The cherry interior has 15 various sized open cubbies, 22 small receipt drawers with their original brass label holders, 4 other various sized drawers, 4 pen/pencil drawers, one hidden drawer and 2 pencil shelves. These are all original and made in cherry wood. The desk comes apart in 3 main pieces for ease in moving and getting up staircases. The base has a long center drawer above the 25.5” wide kneehole. There are 4 drawers on one side and 2 drawers plus a deep file drawer on the other side. All the drawers have raised paneled fronts with fancy carved wooden pulls. Notice the many panels on the sides, back and even in the kneehole area. The panels are deeply recessed and raised – very impressive! The desk rests on its original casters which make moving it quite easy. The desk appears to retain its original finish which is in very good condition. There are the expected ink stains on the writing surface which only adds to its charm.
