This handsome feudal or Jacobean looking solid oak armchair has an extensively pierced carved back. All the carvings are crisp and boldly executed. The design displays acanthus leaves and trailing vines throughout. Look closely and you will see the original gold and green paint used to highlight the design. Notice the elegantly shaped, curvaceous arms. The seat is covered in burgundy color velvet secured with decorative brass tacks. There are a couple of minor spots on the fabric, but this is only visible upon close examination. Otherwise the fabric and springs are in excellent condition. Now check out the extensively pierced carved seat rail on the front and sides and the boldly carved and shapely stretcher below. The chair retains its original finish, which is in excellent condition. The chair frame is tight having no breaks or repairs.
