A REAL BEAUTY!
This beautiful, original, signed still life oil painting of a vase of a variety of colorful flowers by Theodore van der Poel is in Excellent condition. According to his bio on the back of the painting, Van der Poel was born in 1942 and is primarily a landscape and flower painter with a preference for the picturesque scenes. His sphere of interest, DE KEMPEN, is such a picturesque stretch of country in the North East of Belgium, stretching north to the South of Holland. There are vast heather-tracts, diversified by marshes, dunes, ponds and charming villages and farmhouses in places. Theo has an unmistakable style and the ability to capture the typical atmosphere of this country-side.
He likes to travel to learn about manners and customs of foreign countries and visited Africa, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, England and, of course, the Mecca of the artists, Paris.
Many of his paintings are in the hand of private collectors and have been bought by leading industrialists.
Theo van der Poel feels a strong affinity to the Dutch impressionists.
The beautifully carved gold gilt wooden frame is 6" wide including linen trim and alone is worth the price.
