Antique Wedding Necklace maltese cross pendant signed sterling chrysoprase gothic Lamb of GOd

This is a wonderful old sterling chandelier pendant necklace that has 4 maltese crosses . The center one represents the origin of family and is always the largest. This one has a chrysoprase center with lots of beautiful etruscan work that is all hand wrought. NOT a machine made piece. 

Rites of passage, especially baptism and marriage, were common times for the huldre folk to attack because humans were vulnerable as they changed status. Parents often pinned a tiny sølje on the baby's clothes until baptism provided a more permanent protectionThe three cross pendants indicate that the style represents agnes Dei or the lamb of God. As People grew older and started their own family these were given as wedding presents for the bride to be worn on her wedding day. THis one is signed LJR sterling with a 3 in a Bell. This Mexican Taxco gothic or Renaissance wedding pendant and is all original.. It is based on both crosses worn by Spanish conquistadors and the Jerusalem crosses worn by the crusaders.

This measures 2 7/8" long and the chain is 22" long.
