Antique Tonk Manufacturing Company Solid Walnut Music Chair

Take home a piece of America's past with this American Antique Tonk Manufacturing Company Solid Walnut Music Chair, circa 1900. This beautiful music chair hails from the Tonk Manufacturing Company in Chicago, Illinois; a company that got its start in 1873, when Max Tonk opened his carving shop that supplied the Chicago cabinet industry with fancy ornaments for cabinets and caskets. By the 1880's Tonk Manufacturing began to make swivel seat piano stools and was once the nation's largest maker of piano stools. Throughout the years the company was run by three generations of Tonks until the company closed its doors in 1962.

Constructed out of solid walnut, this lovely Tonk music chair has a slightly curved top rail, straight-lined harp-like back splat, round swivel seat, nicely turned center post, turned spreaders, and turned legs with iron and glass ball feet that support it with much elegance and add just the right finishing touch. The Antique Tonk Manufacturing Company Solid Walnut Music Chair, measures 35.50 inches H X 14.50 inches W X 15.00 inches, and has adjustable positioning to increase the height for its seat.
