Antique Russian Silver Mounted Porcelain Snuff Box

Unavailable

This beautiful Russian silver box, late 18th to mid 19th century, features an outer frame of porcelain with gilded scrolling decorations, a painted lid depicting courting lovers, and an underside with fine floral painting.   Measures 3.4 x 2 x 1.4 in (8.6 x 5.3 x 3.6 cm).  Carries the 84 Zolotniki mark indicating silver purity of .875, maker's mark "OK" and city mark which is very worn and not deciphered.  Possibly it represents the mark of Moscow or St. Petersburg. Condition is excellent. Hinge works fine and the lid fits snug. There is some wear to the painting on the underside and to the gilding on the sides, and the painting on the lid is in excellent condition.
