This exceptional marble statue of the Venus de Milo dates from the turn of the 20th century. Measures: 56 x 15 x 8 in; 142 x 38 x 46 cm. Unsigned and believed to be of Italian origin. The original Venus de Milo, also known as Aphrodite of Milos was sculptured circa 100-130 BC, and discovered in 1820 in the ancient ruins of Milos in the village of Tripiti on the island of Milos in the Aegean sea.  It aepicts Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, known to the Romans as Venus.  It measures 80 in (203 cm) tall resides in the collection of the Louvre in Paris.
