Antique Portuguese Center Table with Pierced Bronze Ornamentation, Circa 1850 This commanding antique Portuguese rectangular center table with two front drawers and pierced bronze ornamentation will bring robust strength to any surrounding it is placed in. The incurved molding and raised panel drawer frontages have rectangular, pierced bronze hardware with raised egg motif keyholes at the center. This motif is mirrored on the sides of the table. Square “die joins” where the stretchers meet also have the same design of pierced bronze hardware in addition to bronze stretcher knobs which loosen, tighten or dismantle the stretchers for moving. There are large and small ring-turned and twist-turned elements, all with very deep recesses on the legs. The stretchers are twist turned and rest upon four large ball feet. This is a magnificent Portuguese center table will be an asset to any home. Condition: Age separations, nicks and rubs to wood commensurate with age; Black markings on turnings; 3 bronze knobs missing (from stretchers). H=34 7/8, W=47 1/8, D=27 5/8
