Here is an antique oak Watchmaker Cabinet that is in very good condition. Probably dates to 1910 perhaps a couple of years later. It appears to have had an amateur but very good refinish at some point in the distant past. There are 4 machine-dovetailed drawers in this cabinet and all still have their original seperators and remnants of the paper identifying tags for the watch crystals are still present. (paper labels indicate "Geneva 20 H 5, 20 H 6 H 7 Included " etc. with cabinet are about 100 (I didnt count them) various sized watch crystals and labels that are quite old and were found inside the cabinet. Hardware is original, drawers open and close well. All 4 drawers stand proud a little less than 1/4 from the front, because the back of the cabinet is an apparent replacement that has been faux-grained on the outside (see photo) . This would be a pretty easy fix, if you felt compelled to do it - but has been like this for probably many many years.
Drawer interiors are clean and appeared to have been scrubbed out at sometime. Drawer interiors measure about 23 3/4 x 10 3/4 x 2.
Otherwise the cabinet is structurally stable, no water or insect damage and no musty smells. No potted plant syndrome on the top - just a good clean unit that is getting harder and harder to find. The finish is very clean, needs nothing and this functional cabinet will display extremely well. Perfect for watch crystals, optician lenses, jewelry or coins.
