This lovely Antique Oak Cabinet Domestic Treadle Sewing Machine Model 3, circa 1880, hails from the Domestic Sewing Machine Company, established in 1861 in Norwalk, Ohio by N. S. Perkins and William Mack. Although the company was originally established to make sewing machine parts, by 1869 they were using the Domestic Sewing Machine name on their own complete machines. Three years later they were manufacturing nearly 50,000 machines a year, each one built by hand.<p>This Model 3 Domestic Treadle Sewing Machine is constructed out of beautiful oak and has a decorative incised wooden cover, a set of drawers with the original brass pulls that straddle each side of the center swing attachment drawer, a drop leaf work surface, and rests on a cast iron decorative base. This Domestic sewing machine is in full working order, has the original attachments, patent dates that range from 1863 - 1876, measures 39.00 inches H X 35.00 inches W X 17.00 inches D, and is in the original finish with appropriate wear for its age.
