Rounded tube needle case, Mauchlineware - wood with decoration of Alloway Kirk (Church with graveyard) and "Bought in the Monument". There is a strange area of hatching, covering the words in script "Made of Wood ....... (can't read it) ....on the Banks of the Doon". Hatching also covers small area of Church picture. Needle case is 98 mm long and 15 mm diameter (3.7/8inches by about 5/8 inch). Very good condition woodwork. Late 19th to very early 20th century.
