The Salins -les-Bains Majolica Company began in 1857 and had numerous owners, all of whom were from other faience and majolica factories. Sadly, it closed its doors in the 1990’s after winning numerous medals for their majolica over its 130 years of operation.
This wonderful set of twelve Majolica asparagus plates and server are from the late 1800s. The leaves are in two tones of green and with the buds in an aqua green with purple, on a glossy white ground. The plates have three wells with the right hand wells being divided by a raised grey motif which is also at the top of all of the plates.
The curled semi circular server has the same motifs and has an attached rectangular plate beneath it. Complete sets of antique Salins-les-Bain Majolica asperagus plates and servers are difficult to find in France.
