Antique Hand Carved Italian Renaissance Chair

This is a very old and rare Italian Renaissance Chair; it features rich wood that is intricately carved with two griffins adorning each side of a shield like motif at the top. There are carvings down the center of leaves, scrolls and berry clusters, the outer sides have two spiral barley twist upright spindles with rectangular shaped blocks with floral motif medallions at top and bottom. The seat is framed with carvings of foliage. The legs are carved mixtures of rectangular floral motif carved medallions and barley twist spirals. This chair has been recently been re-upholstered with fabric in an amazing Belgian tapestry that depicts Revolutionary ladies and gentlemen enjoying a picnic in the countryside. This is a striking amazing show piece and masterpiece accent chair.

Condition: Very Good, this is truly in amazing, free of any major wear, scratches, gouges or damage to the wood or finish with the exception of the left upper corner of the seat frame which was cracked and repaired.

Measurements: 45” Tall x 18" Wide x 17" Deep, Seat Depth is 15" and 20" from floor to seat.
