Antique Gilt Bronze Neoclassical Mantel Clock from Dial Signed: Lemerle Charpentier & Cie of Paris

This beautiful figural gilt bronze and rouge marble mantel clock from Lemerle Charpentier et Cie of Paris dates from the last quarter of the 19th century.  Measures:  27 in high, 24 in wide and 9.5 in deep (69 by 61 by 24 cm).  This important firm, originally was originally located at 8, Rue Charlot in Paris as early as 1860.  According to Sotheby's, they exhibited mantle clocks similar to this one, and other decorative art objects, at the Paris Expositon Universelle of 1878.  Their signature piece at this exhibition was an extraordinary example of Piat's grande horloge, an example of which sold at Sotheby's in New York on April 26, 2006 in lot 105 for $329,600.
