A lovely Early 19th Century Antique Georgian Papier Mache Plate by Jennens and Bettridge, who, having acquired Henry Clay's Birmingham manufactory in 1816, went on to become the most famous partnership in the papier mache industry, flourishing until 1864. The floral decoration of this piece is composed of inlaid abalone shell pearl heightened with gilding, whilst the reverse is impress marked, JENNENS & BETTRIDGE'S PATENT PEARL". This piece has, at some time, been given a protective coat of clear varnish. Diameter : 10.00 inches : Year : Circa 1830. Ref. AGJABPMP.
