Antique French Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Mounted Blue Marble Centerpiece

Unavailable

This magnificent centerpiece in the Louis XVI style dates from the fourth quarter of the 19th century, and is crafted from bleu turguin and rouge de mont joi marble, with ormolu bronze mounts including ram heads, reed-and-tie banding, rosettes and garlands.  It measures an impressive 26" across and 16.25" tall (66 by 41.5 cm).  Condition is good, with tarnishing to the gilded surfaces, and chip losses and scratches to the marble, all consistent with age.  No foundry mark has been found.  Casting and finishing is of the highest quality.
