This lovely bronze by Edouard Drouot (French, 1859-1945) depicting a joyous mandolin player measures 32.5 x 16.5 x 9 in, 83 x 42 x 23 cm.  Drouot was born in Sommevoire in 1859 and died in Paris in 1945.  Well listed and widely collected, he was a painter and sculptor known for his mythological subjects, genre and local scenes and animals, and Orientalist subjects as well.   Édouard Drouot studied under Émile Thomas and Mathurin Moreau. He began by painting genre subjects and contributed Amateur to the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle receiving an honourable mention. Then he devoted himself to producing sculptures of modest dimensions and most frequently in bronze.  Source:  Benezit Dictionary of Artists.
