From the refined series designed by William Wise for Mintons China Works depicting "Animals of the Farm" (pattern No. 1699), here is "Cart Horses". The tile is printed in sepia on a buff clay body giving a pleasing depth and warmth to the image. The tile is in very good condition with upper left corner slightly filed for original fitting and light lower edge nick toward left corner as shown. The tile is signed and dated: "W.Wise 1879."
