very cute oak sewing box side table, Imported from England and dating back to the early 1900's.
What a useful piece of furniture this is for any sewer or quilter to have. At first glance it looks like a nice little side table but the top slides open on each side to reveal a green silk and velvet lined sewing compartment.
It stands on 4 simple square shaped reeded legs terminating in small casters so it can easily be moved from place to place as needed. There is also a lower storage or display shelf.
The top and lower shelf have a softly scalloped edge giving it a soft country look and there is some beautiful tiger oak patina shining through the dark oak finish.
There is some wear to the finish, mainly on the top which is shown in the pictures and as you can see it only adds to its character and charm. The fabric interior is generally in good shape for its age with only some small ink spot stains and minor wear.
Over all, this pretty and practical piece of furniture is in solid, sturdy condition with minor age appropriate flaws.
