Small antique English mahogany side cabinet or pot cupboard dating back to C.1900.
You would never know that these kind of small side cabinets were originally used to store the chamber pot in the English Victorian and Edwardian bedroom. Hence the name 'pot cupboard'. Now they make great side tables or plant stands.
This particular one has a very simple arts and crafts style. The single paneled door to the front opens to reveal a storage space with a shelf. The door also boasts the original beautiful decorative brass drop handle.
The mahogany has developed a wonderful aged patina over time with a warm reddish brown glow.
There is some separation of the wood join on top due to climate change causing movement in the wood. This has also caused some slight splitting on the door front which has been filled and stained at some point. I have tried to show this in the pictures and as you can see it does not take away from the character and charm of the piece. Over all it is in solid sturdy condition with minor age appropriate wear and flaws.
