Antique English Art Nouveau Tube-Lined Tile--Marsden

$295.00
Quantity available: 1

The freely expressed design is tubelined or slip-trailed onto the surface of the biscuit tile (the back having the characteristic 11 bars of the Marsden Company) and then glazed giving the effect of stained glass. This rare and wonderful tube-lined tile from the New Marsden Tile Co., c. 1908-1910, if finished in four subtle and translucent glazes which don't read very well in the image:  the background color is a bit less saturated than it appears in the image and there is a hing of green across the bottom of the stylized flowerhead and around the stamens that appear at either side of its top.  The tile is in excellent condition except for the edge nick toward the top at the right edge.
