BEAUTY, STYLE AND FUNCTION!
This lovely hand carved drop down Secretary Desk appears to be 19th Century, done in flame walnut or mahogany, though exact wood is unknown. The top portion has thirteen ports for envelopes and writing paper, five small drawers, one lock box with key and the fold down desk top has a key as well. The bottom portion has four large drawers that appear to have the original hardware on them. This finely crafted piece is solid with ample storage space. A very stately and ornate piece with it's scrollwork, carved finials and intricate embellishments offering a treat for the eyes enhancing any decor, coupled with function.
CONDITION: The unit is in incredible shape for the age, drawers are solid inside and out the ports and lock box are in good working condition. Integrity of the unit is stable. There are some minor age spots and marks on the piece as you will see in the photos. There are some dry cracks on the outside front of the fold down top that are shown in the photos. The fold down top will look complete when you add a leather blotter pad, pens and paper.
Desk Cabinet 42” tall x 36” wide. The top of cabinet is 11” deep. The open drop down writing surface is 19” deep.
