This chair from c. 1800’s is in good condition. The wood appears to be mahogany and the whole piece is covered with detailed carvings. The crest rail has swirls and acanthus leaves with a detailed 3 dimensional face in the center. The small leaf clusters on each side of the face have broken leaves on each side. Be sure to look at the photos below. Since this is a corner or roundabout chair there are 2 splats. Both splats are urn style with small griffons heads on each side of the splat at the top. The seat rail is carved as well and there appears to be a repair on the left side where the seat rail meets the left front leg. The upholstery is in good condition with no rips, tears, holes or odors. There are a few light spots on the upholstery from use. This chair is solid and sturdy. The overall condition is very good. I do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This piece is a very old antique and will not be perfect. This chair measures 34 3/8 inches tall, 27 5/16 inches side to side and 27 1/8 inches front to back. It weighs 19 pounds.
