A stunning Antique Chinese Door Panel Screen dating to 1900 in fir from the Zhejiang Province which features high-quality hand-carved openwork of a vase of flowers.

FLOWERS

In Chinese culture flowers symbolize growth fulfillment and prosperous new beginnings in life. In Feng Shui flowers are also seen as symbols of success flourishing and good luck. And also like in Western culture flowers can symbolize love and unity.

BIRDS

Birds can symbolize longevity; and also in many Chinese legends birds carry the souls of the dead to heaven.

BUTTERFLY

In Chinese symbolism the butterfly represents love and joy and also change and positive transformation as the butterfly changes from a caterpillar into a beautiful winged butterfly.

In Chinese symbolism the peach represents longevity. There is a myth that the Eight Immortals gather in the Kun Lun mountains to eat the fruit of a peach tree which blooms once every 3000 years in order to preserve their immortality.

Overall Condition is Restored. Shows normal wear wood separation at the joints and miscellaneous nicks dings and scratches due to age and use. Some of the carved flowers have been professionally restored. The entire piece has been re-finished by master artisans and the piece retains glimpses of its original orange or red lacquer.
