Antique 1871 English sterling hallmarked Horseshoe butterfly brooch Victorian Symbolism

Unavailable

THis beautiful layered sterling antique brooch has the hallmarks : a lion ( Birmingham), an x (1871) and an anchor (Birmingham) and also the mark S bros. The brooch is meticulously made with a Horseshoe (Victorian symbol of good luck) and a butterfly (Resurrection. This is taken from the three parts of a butterflies life with the butterfly being the resurrection from the chrysalis) and ivy leafs ( given to express fidelity, friendship and eternity).Obviously a well thought out theme to give good luck and life to its original wearer. To think that this tiny piece of jewelry has made it thru so many hands and so many lives and travels is amazing in itself. To think that it would be in such great condition is even more amazing. YOU can just feel the good Karma that comes off of this. It measures almost 2" long and has a C clasp. What a great heirloom this will be!       VintageSparkles offers Layaway on all our pieces regardless of which site it comes from. All layaway payments will need to be in the form of a check or money order only.
