Weighs 43.39 g / 27.9 dwt / 1.4 ozt Company name: International Silver Pattern name: Du Barry Piece: Teaspoon Date introduced: 1968 Metal: Sterling silver Condition: Pre-owned This Du Barry pattern is a wonderful sterling silver pattern because it is sterling silver - making it suitable for company, and it is a beautifully embellished pattern with clusters of flowers running down the front of the handle from about 1/3 of the way down to the bottom and even encroaching into the bowl of the teaspoon a little - suitable for mother-in-law use, and get together use. It is a lovely and versatile pattern that you will be sure to enjoy owning. The International Silver Company is a group of 14 independent manufacturers of silver products. Many of these 14 were conglomerates of other companies through consolidations and mergers, and international Silver was founded by them all in1898. Each company kept its own company name and hallmarks, but they added the International Silver mark. Some of the merged companies included Rogers Brothers, H C Wilcox & Co. who eventually purchased Rogers Brothers, and, by the 1890s, International Silver had branches in Canada and London. The grouping of these smaller companies into the International Silver Company was the idea of Meriden Britannia to increase efficiency and could be marketed more aggressively in 1898, although Ashbil Griswold created the precursor of the idea in 1808.
