North Bros. Yankee Push Drill No. 44 w/8 Bits & Box

This is a nice clean used spiral push drill w/ 8 different sized drills (from 1/16" to 11/64")(a full set) that store in the handle. It is marked "NORTH BROS. MFG. CO. YANKEE NO. 44 PHILA PA. U.S.A." on the black Japanned area between the handle and the knurled nut. During the WWII period there was some brief periods when materials were not available for nickel plating, so we have observed North Bros. tools that are normally nickel plated with bare brass, or paint instead. As you can see, much of the rest of this tool is nickel plated, yet I believe the painted section to be original paint, and the end cap has no sign of ever being nickel plated. The No. 44 features the adjustable tension spring, so the user can adjust to a lighter spring when the smallest drill bit are used. It measures 9.7" long overall extended without the drill bit. The steel spring chuck and spiral system are in good usable condition with very little wear. Nickel plating is about 95% intact with some wear and minor scratches noted, a few small dings on the handle section. The bits are are in very good used or new condition, removable, and have a .168" diameter shank, and will except that size Yankee drill bits that we also offer for sale (under Yankee with the search feature). A nice, clean spiral push drill, with some scratches on the main shaft, but in very good working condition! The included original box is in good condition with a good top and end labels, some minor edge and corner wear, and some minor stains on the sides, no taped areas, a good solid box on both top and bottom. A very nice vintage push drill overall!
