This early patented draw knife was perhaps the first patent adjustable handle position draw knife in the USA. Patent in 1857 it show clear signs of early steel forging process, with some areas having void that appear much like rust pitting. This one is 16" wide overall x 8.5" wide blade, has far more stock left on it than most I've seen over the years. It's in good working condition with good gear like handle positioning features that allow handle to be positioned at about every 15 degrees, solid hardwood handles (with brass ferrules and end caps), and the maker's stamp can still be seen. It reads "NOBLES MFG. CO. 8". The cutting edge is fairly sharp, but could use a bit of honing if you plan to put this tool back in service. A nice primitive tool!
