Innes Pearce & Company Antique 1/4 Sawn Tiger Oak Washstand Commode
This gorgeous Antique Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Washstand Commode, circa 1900, hails from Innes Pearce and Company, a Rushville, Indiana company founded in 1884 that began as a planning mill business and later added furniture manufacture as an adjunct to the planning mill. At one time Innes Pearce was one of the biggest furniture companies in Indiana and although it was regarded for quality furniture the company dabbled in a lot of different ventures. For a number of years it owned fifty percent interest in the company that made the Louisiville Slugger baseball bat, owned a plant in Paoli that made handles for garden tools, owned the Indianapolis Veneer Company and was also the Pure Oil Company distributor for ten or twelve counties.

Take home a lovely piece of America's past with this Innes Pearce & Company Antique Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Washstand Commode. Constructed out of beautiful oak with amazing quarter sawn tiger oak patterns, the washstand has curved decoratively carved towel rack supports, a serpentine skirt and drawers, a paneled back and paneled sides, and elegant curved front feet that support the washstand with much elegance and add just the right finishing touch. Typically the washstand had a bowl and water pitcher placed on the top of the chest, so the towel rack came in quite handy. There is plenty of storage space in this washstand commode, with one large top drawer, a right-sided cupboard below that originally stored the chamber pot, and two smaller drawers to the left of the cupboard. Of course nowadays this space can be used for storing all sorts of incidentals for the bed and bath area. This Innes Pearce & Company Antique Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Washstand Commode has the original towel bar, original decorative brass hardware, original Innis, Pearce & Co. label, measures, 55.25 inches H X 35.00 inches W X 19.00 inches D, and is in the original finish with appropriate wear for its age.
