Beautiful Nishi & Co LTD Japanese "Sakura Doll" GEISHA" 15 inch doll in the original box and wrapper. The Sakura is a a modern innovation which appeared during the Taisho era (1912-26). It is derived from the French Dolls, which became very popular in Japan. She is dressed in a traditional Geisha outfit made of purple and white floral silk kimono, and shoes. She has a silk painted face and body, hair adornments and carries a "Samisen" stringed musical instrument. Mounted on a black wood platform.
